A fechtbuch, or fencing book, is a specific type of German medieval literature in which fencing masters wrote down instructions on how to conduct various types of combat. Dozens of fencing books have survived, giving us an extraordinary insight into the mentality and customs not only of knights, but also of civilians who practiced fencing to prepare themselves for hard times or to strengthen their body and mind. The books in our offer contain not only translations of these works, but also their interpretation or modern didactics, thanks to which you can understand fencing in its entirety. All of our books are printed on premium paper, in color, and contain dozens of gorgeous illustrations.

About me
I have been fencing since 2003. In 2006 I turned my attention to the study of medieval and renaissance works dealing with fencing, combat and related subjects. I have written several translations, transcriptions and also many articles in domestic or foreign journals and portals. As an international instructor I have taught fencing in over 20 countries. I regularly participate in fencing tournaments, from which I have won numerous awards (long-term top 10 in the HEMA Ratings, world number one in 2018). I am the founder of the Bratislava Fencing Guild, Slovak HEMA Federation – FEBUS and the holder of the Magister degree from the Magisterium School. I am also the founder of SIGI Forge, a leading manufacturer of swords and other equipment for HEMA.
